A Typical Nursery Day

We strongly believe that Learning through play encourages a child’s confidence and develops all are of their learning, in line with the Governments Early Years Foundation Stage strategy. All activities are planned through careful observation of the children’s needs and evolve as the children get closer to starting school.  They are linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Construction, arts and crafts, role play mark making and messy plays are some of the continuous provision available for all children. For our youngest children lots of sensory play will be important to their play and learning.

10 am or 1.30 pm

Snack time  The children wash their hands and sit down in small groups with an adult for snack.  This is either fruit or a healthy alternative, with milk and water to drink.  This is an enjoyable, social time with lots of interaction and chatting.

10.30 am or 2 pm

Outside time We try to ensure the children are outside as much as possible.  Factors such as weather and age of children may affect this.  All sorts of activities can be available outside.

Throughout the session

Keyperson Activities  The children have time within each session with their keyperson and this may be individual or in small groups. Keypersons will help children’s learning by extending play.  For example asking them to share out the plates in role play may help with numbers, colours, social skills, speech etc.
